Below are answers to commonly asked questions regarding rhinoplasty surgery at our practice. If you have additional questions or concerns about the procedure, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Is having rhinoplasty painful?
There is some pain associated with rhinoplasty. However, with good local anaesthetic as an adjunct to general anaesthetic, pain is usually not a major issue with the procedure or in patient satisfaction.
How long does it take to recover from rhinoplasty surgery?
Rhinoplasty procedures are routinely performed as day surgery at our New South Wales practice, but patient may stay in hospital overnight if they wish to.
Rhinoplasty is an operation usually performed under general anaesthetic, although very limited procedures can be done under local anaesthetic at request. For the majority of rhinoplasties performed at our practice serving Sutherland Shire and nearby areas, nasal bones have to be fractured and this can result in some bruising and swelling of the face. This would usually totally resolve by two weeks, and thus this is the period of time that a patient should be off work if they did not want anyone to know they had had the procedure.
Does rhinoplasty involve a lot of scarring?
Most of the incisions for the closed rhinoplasty procedure at our New South Wales practice are performed through the actual cartilage within the nose so that no scars are visible. For open rhinoplasty surgery, a small scar is made across the columella, or the central pillar between the nostrils, to allow access to the nose. This usually leaves an excellent scar which is routinely not visible.
What other cosmetic facial procedures do you offer at your practice?
In addition to rhinoplasty, our New South Wales practice offers other exceptional facial procedures such as eyelid surgery, facelift surgery, placement of facial implants, brow lift, and otoplasty. We also offer various injectable treatments to help improve the appearance of facial skin. These procedures can be combined to produce optimal cosmetic results.
